Ramadan is Around the Corner

6:09 PM

Yes its almost here, few more days, and a very important guest will be arriving, are you ready, have you prepared everything to welcome this wonderful guest?? I guess you already know about whom I am talking. Yes it's the holy month of Ramadan, one of the best months of the year, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, which lasts 29 to 30 days. It is the Islamic month of fasting in which the noble Qura'an was revealed to our beloved prophet and in which there is a night

As a time to purify the soul, refocus attention on Allah, and practice self-sacrifice, Ramadan is much more than just not eating and drinking. We are to re-evaluate our lives in light of Islamic guidance. We are to make peace with those who have wronged us, strengthen ties with family and friends, do away with bad habits -- essentially to clean up our lives, our thoughts, and our feelings. The Arabic word for "fasting" (sawm) literally means "to refrain" - and it means not only refraining from food and drink, but from evil actions, thoughts, and words.

During Ramadan, every part of the body must be restrained. The tongue must be restrained from backbiting and gossip. The eyes must restrain themselves from looking at unlawful things. The hand must not touch or take anything that does not belong to it. The ears must refrain from listening to idle talk or obscene words. The feet must refrain from going to sinful places. In such a way, every part of the body observes the fast.

If you are looking for a good and fruitful time to spend with your kids this ramadan, Umm Suhailah of ummi's circle blog is hosting a Ramadan challenge and a give a way. If you are really interested you need to register yourself before Ramadan. So hurry up and hop on to there

Smart Ark has got this beautiful apple tree chart, that helps kids keep track the number of days they have fasted

Mini Mumin publications has got free Ramadan Kit that has got a story to read, charts and reminders too.

A muslim child is born has created a beautiful game on sadaqah. The objective of the game is for children to learn to give away things that they may usually be inclined not to give to someone else willingly due to their affection for the object or food.

And I'm also trying to create few mini workbooks and worksheets for my little princess, that she can work on them in Ramadan insha Allah.

And this is the video my little princess's reminds herself on things to do in Ramadan. :-)
