Chicken Pastry

11:45 AM

The chilly weather in here set me into cooking mode. Hence had a nice time with my lil princess in the kitchen. I almost have forgotten how to make these pastries, as haven't made them for a very long time. Maybe as long back as I was a student :)!

As I love baking, pastries are one of my favourites to make and of course to eat.

Our little chef all set to cook and bake :)!

For the topping or filling: ( I don't follow any measurements for this it's you get what you put taste, if the quantity you make turns out more than enough, you can save it for another day. Or if it turns out less, you can substitute with something you like cheese or Za'atar (oregano)))!
Cubed Onion
Sliced garlic
Diced tomatoes
Sliced green chillies
Minced meat/chicken
Tahina(seasame seed sauce)
Lemon juice
Pepper and salt
Oil

Heat oil in a pan, add the garlic slices and fry for awhile. Add in the chopped onions and stir fry till transcluent. Add the tomatoes, chilly and the meat. Cover and cook till the meat is tender. Open the lid and let it cook till all the liquid has been evaporated, season with salt and pepper then turn off heat. Add the tahina and lemon juice, mix well and keep aside.

For the pastry or the bun you need:
4 cups Flour
1 tbsp Instant yeast
1 tbsp Baking powder
1 tbsp Sugar
1 Egg
2 tsp Salt
1 1/2 Cup warm milk
1/3 Cup olive oil

Combine all the ingredients and knead into a dough. Lil princess had fun measuring the ingredients and of course breaking the egg, which almost got scattered all over her! If it had been too many of it she might have bathed in it :D!

Knead little more by your hand and drizzle a bit of olive on top of it. Leave it to raise in size in a warm place.

My lil princess was amazed to see the risen dough and said it's simliar to the pizza dough we make(I would be amazed if it hadn't risen this much with all those rising agents in it!)!

Knead the dough with your hand to get it back to it's normal size. Make into little balls, dip in olive oil. Press onto the center of the ball to make a well and add the topping in it. Once its done, leave it again for another 30 mins, so it rises again.

Bake in a moderate pre-heated oven for around 30 mins.

Have it hot with nice cup of cappuccino :)!

Most of the work was done by my lil princess, and she was happy saying it around she baked a bun :)!
